CHOGOKIN TAMASHII MIX Mechagodzilla (Ohrai Noriyoshi Poster Ver.) Commercialization Commemorative Superintendent: Shinji Nishikawa Special Interview

The Mechagodzilla of this time makes a major proposition, top priority, to match with the poster drawn by Professor Norinoshi

――Please tell us how the project "CHOGOKIN TAMASHII MIX MECHAGODZILLA(OHRAI NORIYOSHI POSTER Ver.)" (Hereinafter, "Soul MIX Mechagodzilla") was born.

Terano:The beginning of this project dates back to 2015, but at that time, I felt that Godzilla fans in Japan would be excited before the release of "Shin Godzilla" in 2016.
There was also a plan such as "Godzilla vs. Evangelion", so it seemed that the degree of freedom was relatively high, so when I asked Toho about the commercialization plan of the poster version Mechagodzilla at this festive timing, it was OK. I received it.
However, it was also confirmed by Toho at that time, but I was thinking about how to produce this product in terms of points, I would like to borrow the power of those who know that time.
Although it was a schedule of another person at the stage of the planning document, as I verified the material, it turned out that Professor Nishikawa Shinji was drawn on the base of Mechagodzilla drawn on this poster, I asked for your cooperation.

- Why did you choose this poster version Mekongodzilla?

Terano:When I was an elementary school student, the Godzilla movie I saw in the theater for the first time was "Godzilla vs. Violante", and then I watched the Godzilla VS series indispensable.
When I saw the poster of "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" for the first time, I had a strong impact on a new mechzogira towering behind. Since I knew the visual of Showa 's Mechagodzilla, I felt overwhelming coolness in Mechagodzilla of the poster plate whose resolution was increased.
With that feeling in mind, when I went to see "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla", I thought "That? I feel a bit different".
At that time, I did not understand the reason, and secretly became traumatic. Where did Mechagodzilla drawn on that poster go ...?

Nishikawa:It was unavoidable on the system of movie production that the design of Mechagodzilla appearing in the movie was different from the mecha godzilla of the poster.
Because the design for the movie is made carefully boiled down, there are times when the design is not decided at the timing of making a poster for notification.
It was such a situation at this time.

Terano:Although I was convinced of knowing about such circumstances since becoming a society person, there was ambition to want to make this mecha godzilla as a product someday.
And when we thought that we wanted to offer Godzilla 's movement that would come in 2016 to the same Godzilla' s VS series generation as you, now the poster version mecha godzilla has come up.

- Dr. Nishikawa, what did you think when the story of "Soul MIX Mechagodzilla" came?

Nishikawa:It was after "Godzilla X Ryokon Retrospective Retrospective" that Mr. Terano got in touch.
As an illustration for "retrospective exhibition", I drew a coalescence deformation of Mechagodzilla. Looking at the original poster, the tanks in the foreground and the arm of Mechagodzilla have the same shape, and I tried refining the coalescing system again based on the picture of the poster is an illustration for "retrospective exhibition".
At that time the poster version mecha godzilla was drawn on the Order of the Organizer's side, but the subject of soul MIX was just about thinking as if I had heard about seeing it clearly.

- Poster version Where is the image of Mekongodzilla born?

Nishikawa:The setting of Mechagodzilla of "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" was made mainly by Mr. Koichi Kawakita, a special skill director.
Director Kawakita was also involved in Showa's Mechagodzilla and there was a feeling that he wanted to drastically change it as before. So, besides coalescence, I thought about colors other than silver, I was trying to change my name temporarily.
About coalescence, it was around the very first time that the design work began. It also depicts Mechagodzilla that does not merge at the very beginning, but since everything drawn after it is supposed to be coalesced.

- Professor Nishikawa has heard that Mekko Godzilla of Showa has a hope, but did the team have resistance to coalescence?

Nishikawa:In the design work of the remake monster, Mechagodzilla is considered to be a dare to change. In the era of mechanics, common sense in the real world is different, and the design which is popular in animation will change, too.
Therefore, I think that it is always necessary to adopt cutting edge. So when I was "Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla", I also drew it with some people while watching the robot circumstances at the time.
And, as the direction of each designer got settled, Director Kawakita went to the consultation of the poster to Professor Yoshinori Rikunori.
At that time, Kawakita took the design picture nearest to Mechagodzilla he is thinking at the moment and issued instructions to his servant. I heard from Kawakita's director the contents, but what I became the foundation was a coalesced mechangiczilla drawn by myself. However, Director Kawakita seemed to want more curved surface, I think that it is a picture of the other person, perhaps Mr. Yoshida (Joe), though the chest and the shoulder circumference, but it seems to have been instructed by the feeling of transplanting it.
Based on that instruction, Professor Takeshi has drawn illustrations for posters, is not it?
The soul MIX mecha godzilla of this time is based on the original design which I first thought in the meaning of the reproduction of a coalescing system, but as for the part drawn on a poster, it makes a major proposition to make it a match with a poster, making it the top priority It is.

- Speaking of posters, is not the mechanical that flying to the upper right of Mekagodzilla related to this product?

Nishikawa:That is the flight mecha for the two unit coalesced mechoguzzi drawn by Mr. Yoshida.
So the mechanism to unite with Mechagodzilla on the poster is three of Godzilla 's fellow, Radon' s stepping on, and the background burning.

TeranoWhen counting three aircraft, we count the mechanisms that everyone is flying first, but they are different. I also taught Nishikawa sensei.

- How was the form of "Soul MIX Mechagodzilla" constructed?

Nishikawa:From me I made a proposal of the shape and a set of settings accordingly. Re-examining the history of development of the world view and mechanics connected from "Godzilla vs. Violante", we revalidated the position of each mechanism with the flow of Godzilla's VS series.
On top of that, if the poster version Mechagodzilla appeared in the 1993 movie, what kind of monster was it? I wanted to make it to the point.
So, the body was conscious of the costume and the deformation of each mechanic assumed a miniature rather than CG. Such an internal mechanism enters inside, it is possible to move by the operation from the outside, it is likely to be able to shoot together in real life in the middle of deformation. I wanted to join in a direction that makes the image of the heavy machine feel like not being pushing forces with a small hinge but also a combination.
On the other hand, since it is a united robot that is made in the present era, I do not want to spoil the enjoyment as a toy. I was worried about the balance of both.

- How was the coalescence of the three mechanics, including Garuda, consolidated?

Nishikawa:The coalesced system makes use of what I thought about when I draw illustrations for retrospective exhibitions, but I was lost as to where to put my head.
The head is difficult to hide even in the case of a humanoid robot, but in the case of Mechagodzilla it is really hidden from the head because the neck of the deck is stuck down from the head.
Finally, Mr. Terano left it to the consistency with the solid. As a result, it was surprising that the prototype of perfect deformation came up.

Terano:I stick to perfect deformation. Soul MIX Mechagodzilla, there is no replacement part for coalescence at all.
The mechanism is packed here, but as for the shape, Professor Nishikawa has received various suggestions for bringing it closer to Toho Monster.

Nishikawa:I instructed the nuance attachment to bring it closer to the mechanics that appears in the work of Kawakita's director.
When the lower body lifts at the time of coalescence, it is not necessary to simply lift it up, so propulsive force will be needed ... or. Director Kawakita would like to inject it from the back of the flight mechanics, so it seems to suggest new injection orifices.
The tire of the leg mechanism is not also in the design painting. When I drew an illustration of "retrospective exhibition", I drew it as I intended to look only in the middle of transformation.
When lifting the lower body lifts not only by injection, but hydraulic pressure, it should be stored if it comes to a fixed position. However, I thought that it would be better for the tire to remain when I was thinking about the history of mechanical development.
When thinking of Heisei's Toho mecha, mechanics with tires such as a Moser tank are important.

Terano:The parts surrounding the waist also changed greatly on the way.

Nishikawa:At first I was designed to beat behind my waist but it was small.
It is better if you think about the balance of tank conditions. But that part was supposed to hide the hip joint by knocking down beforehand. After that, when the first prototype was able to be seen and the torso appeared short, when I thought that I wanted to have a volume on the torso a little more, I thought it would be settled if I defeated the parts of the waist ahead.
Actually correcting it is not just a hip joint hiding, the balance itself of the body part itself got better.

Terano:From the prototype exhibited at last year 'Soul Nation 2016', I fixed the face only 5 or 6 times.

Nishikawa:When the stereoscopic prototype was completed, I revisited the details finely, taking the picture of the poster again.
Because I really felt it was too strict and smart, I had to check it several times by saying I had to make it more rugged .... However, there is a part that can not be changed if there is a base by all means, and in the end I decided to redraw the profile of the profile and the front picture from scratch.
We also increased the details much more. Although I was not originally asserated, the power of Professor Miwa's painting is amazing, so in terms of how I approach it.
There is a proposal of Mr. Terano that there is another design which is common to the three mechanisms, and I put a black line in hands and feathers. This was one of the paintings of the design original draft of the time, which was originally in the poster of Mr. Suri, because there was a line in the tank in front, I picked it up.

- It is amazing that a character ended with a vision was loved for over 20 years.

Nishikawa:It was a major premise that the illustration for the poster for the poster was wonderful that became the driving force of commercialization.
And it is the fact that there were a lot of people who care about this for so long.
I believe that being supported by both of them supported the realization. Although there are things that Mobile Suit, which does not appear in the video in the Gundam, has come out as a model, is not it until the decision design once existed? This poster version of Mechagodzilla does not even have a decision design.
In that sense, I feel that I was able to eliminate the sickness through the work of Soul MIX. I hope various people will be happy with this item.

Terano:I am thinking that Mr. Nishikawa would like to make Mr. Nishikawa a cartooning flow of the poster version mecha godzilla that I told this time to become soul MIX.

Nishikawa:The circumstances concerning mecha godzilla are quite maniac. What kind of mecha godzilla is present and how it can be commercialized ... I would like to draw there
. Not to mention the circumstances, even those who did not know exist should be able to buy this soul MIX as simply a good-looking mecha forgotten.
If there is my manga there, I think that it will be transmitted to those who did not know, right? Manga is easy to understand, so I'd love to work on it!
